Had a nice day, no roads I haven’t been down before but it’s been a while for some of them. 150 miles, gi ve or t ake, about 8 hours of wandering. Three Oppo posts. Plus some chocolate birthday cake(!) ice cream from Bruster’s , mmmmmm. And an excellent BLT sandwich.

Not all that many interesting cars; usually I spot more. I’m sure any self-respecting car enthusiast will recognize t his one but I don’t.

I see you found a puddle to drive through.

Where abouts, this drive?

It really was. Social distancing mostly accomplished; probably got a mile or three away from the closest person at different points.

Unfortunately the big one I was aiming for at the end of the trip was unreachable from the direction I approached, bridge was out.

This was south central Indiana, basically Hindustan to Bloomington to Freetown to Bean Blossom .

It was quite possibly the most boring car of its time.  Basically a down market Dodge Dart.

There’s a 60s Dart rotting in a yard about 2 hours from that one, if I didn’t remember the Dart’s grille looked different I would have thought that might be one.

Hindustan ? Isn’t there a travel restriction there??

Looks like a nice drive for a Jeep. Were you flying solo?

I’m just glad I finally got an excuse to use that town name. I drove from Hindustan to Houston today; not many people can make that claim!

Yep, I almost  always drive solo. Friend once, nephew once, so I guess I’m somewhere around 99%.

Boring then, but now all I see is potential.

Now, yeah.

But in the 70s everyone was hot rodding their competitors, including the Dart. Chrysler put the 383, 440 and 426 into the late 60s Dart. The Valiant only got the 318 part way into it.

I’ve *never* seen a rodded late 60s Valiant (early 70s is a different story).

But now, there are a whole bunch of Mopar motors that could make that car fun. Make mine a 340.

The rear end of the V aliant (narrow vertical taillights) is easier to differentiate from the Dart (taillights are angled and nearly square) .

The grille is just slightly different.

Just try visiting Rome and Athens Georgia in one day before heading up to Cumming,  Georgia, as I’ve done.

I have some serious wanderlust right now, but all I can manage to do is walk around the block a few times with the amount of work I have to do . I wandered a little further this time, and my pictures really reflect the emotion turmoil today has been. Glad to see you could get out in a much cheerier mood than I escaped in.

And it all started out as such a nice day, with no looming problems whatsoever. At least I can admit the caricature of gloominess expressed in my wanderings is entertaining, albeit in a dark way.

Best I’ve done is Poland, Jordan, and Cuba. Takes about a half hour.
